E46 sedan appeared in 1998 and replaced the previous model E36. It was developed under the direction of Chris Bangle and recievd restyleing in 2001. The car received new headlights, bumpers and new, more powerful engines. In 2003 convertible and coupe were also updated. In the middle of 2005 in connection with the commissioning of E90, E46 sedan was still in production, and at the end of the same year ended issueing wagons.
