E46 touring appeared in 1999 and replaced the previous model E36 touring. It was developed under the direction of Chris Bangle. With restyling car received new headlights, bumpers and new, more powerful engines. For every year of its production, the E46 was in Car and Driver Magazine's "10 Best Cars" list.
