VAZ-2109 "Sputnik» / Samara (more informal. Called "Nine") - front-wheel drive passenger car with a hatchback. Developed and commercially produced at the Volga Automobile Plant in 1987 - 2006 years. From 2007 until the end of 2011 version of VAZ-21093 was assembled from kits in the Ukraine at the "ZAZ". Is a 5-door version VAZ-2108 in the family of models Lada "Sputnik". The car was launched in the year 1987. Throughout 2109 issue was released a few modifications: VAZ-2109 - the base model, a 1.3 liter petrol engine (1987-1997) VAZ-21091 - modification with 1.1-liter petrol engines (1987-1997) VAZ-21093 - modification with 1.5-liter petrol engines (1988-2006) VAZ-21093i - modification with 1.5 liter fuel-injected engine (pilot production since 1994, permanent - November 1998)
